SUMMARY:Girl Makers and Coders Program
DESCRIPTION:This free program is a collaboration with the Boston Public Library\, designed for teen girls (middle school through high school) who enjoy designing\, making things with their hands\, tinkering\, and who want to learn how to code. They will have a chance to unleash their creativity and create something that thousands will see. The girls will work in small teams to design and build an interactive electronics project with colorful LEDs controlled by sensors and their code\, which they will transfer to a microcontroller. SUMMARY:Young Makers Club: Intro to Raspberry Pi
DESCRIPTION:Join us in this introductory course to Raspberry Pi with a project that will give participants an opportunity to practice soldering\, circuit assembly\, and programming in Python. The project will pair a Raspberry Pi with an ultrasonic rangefinder to detect objects approaching near and far. The course will run for six Saturday mornings (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) from March 19 to April 30 (excluding April 23). \nRecommended for girls and boys 12- to 16-years-old. Students with fine motor skills and an interest in computers and Python programming are encouraged to sign up. All materials will be supplied and students will get to take home their project at the end of the course! \nThis course is taught by trained volunteers. A donation of $125 is requested to pay for materials\, and we gladly accept additional donations to sustain our programming. Boston Makers aspires to provide programming that’s affordable and accessible to all. Please donate an amount that is meaningful to you. \nSpace is limited and on a first-come first-served basis.
