Our very own David Levin has been involved with a project called the “Oral History Listening Booth”-—It’ll be at the Boston Public Library’s JP branch for one week.
It’s an antique phone booth and payphone that he modified to play snippets of oral histories from senior citizens around Boston. You can dial up stories about a variety of subjects, all listed in an attached phone book. The project is in partnership with Boston Artist in Residence Daniel Johnson… He’s been organizing all the oral history recordings. Here are the details:
Oral History Listening Booth
Boston Public Library JP Branch
30 South Street, Jamaica Plain
Until Oct 1, 2018
(moving to Codman Square branch for October)
We hope you’ll come out and give it a listen! The booth is located inside the library on the 1st floor near the stairs to the basement, and will be on display until Oct 1, when it moves to the Codman Square branch.
